The Alternative Kitchen Garden podcast, produced and presented by Emma Cooper, is all about growing edible and useful plants in an environmentally-friendly way. It is completely free to download and listen to.

In this episode we look at the basics of plant nutrition, and what nitrogen, phosphate and potassium do for your plant and what they’re doing to the planet. We look at organic solutions for maintaining the fertility of the garden, a subject AKG correspondents Robb and Jacky (from the Sustainable Living project) touch on in their latest update.
The Soil Association have an interesting report (available to download as a PDF file) on Peak Phosphate, and if you’d like to know more about vegan gardening then take a look at the Vegan Organic Network. For more information on using leaves and making leaf mould, listen to episode 32.
Leave me a comment, send me an email or join our Facebook group. You can get real time updates from the AKG on Twitter. If you’re interested in becoming an Alternative Kitchen Garden Correspondent then read the FAQ.
