October 21st is the 18th Apple Day, Common Ground’s a celebration of local apple diversity in the UK. Join in the fun by attending a local event.
Events are taking place all around the country throughout October; my local event is taking place at Waterperry Gardens this weekend.
Apples are a very popular fruit and an easy one to fit into any kitchen garden because of the choice of different varieties, rootstocks and training methods. A little pruning and protection against pests and you can be eating home grown apples, straight off the tree!
Common Ground also publishes books celebrating apple diversity:
The Apple Source Book
Common Ground Book of Orchards: Community, Conservation and Culture
