Suttons introduce the 'Fourberry'

View/leave comments

Suttons have added a highly ornamental new fruit bush to their catalogue for the new season – the ‘Fourberry Black Gem’. A specially-selected form of golden currant (Ribes aureum), the fourberry has pretty yellow flowers, a delicate scent and eye-catching autumn foliage as well as producing bumper crops of currants. And they’re not only fully-hardy, but pretty drought tolerant as well!

One fourberry plant costs £16.99, but Suttons are currently running an offer – add 2 to your shopping cart and you will pay just £20 for both.

Saffron crocus corms from Suttons

View/leave comments

If you fancy harvesting your own saffron then it’s time to order some corms. I bought mine from Suttons, and they flowered in their first season. They are offering them again this year, at £9.99 for 30 (plenty for a small garden!) and £14.99 if you have space for 60 (a saving of £4.99).

The corms themselves will be delivered in time for planting, in August.
