Emma Cooper is a freelance writer, photographer and podcaster. An active organic gardener, Emma lives in Oxfordshire with husband Pete, three plastic compost bins, two wormeries and a pair of bokashi bins. There used to be chickens, too, but they have all moved on to pastures new.
Emma loves making compost and growing edible & useful plants in an environmentally-friendly way. Her first book, 'The Alternative Kitchen Garden: An A to Z', covers a wide range of topics from green gardening techniques to unusual edible plants and was published by Permanent Publications in 2009. Emma's second book, 'The Allotment Pocket Bible', was published by Crimson in June 2011.
1st May is the day when guerrilla gardeners in the northern hemisphere take their neighbourhood into their own hands and sow sunflower seeds to make it a more beautiful and more wildlife friendly place.
All you need to take part is a handful of sunflower seeds and somewhere to sow them. For more details check out the Facebook event page.
