Welcome to Day 3 of the Big Green Blog Gathering, an online replacement for the cancelled Big Green Gathering with music, talks, workshops and food. On Day 1 we looked at Water issues, and Day 2 was all about Energy.

On the music stage today we have Talking Heads with ‘Nothing But Flowers’

In the Permaculture Yurt a representative from the Department of Transport is running a workshop on How to set up a walking bus and later on the Alternative Kitchen Garden team will be talking about gardening days out.

The café is showcasing British produce today and serving deep fried courgette flowers with Cherryade.

In the Permaculture Garden we will be looking at lemon balm, and Gayla Trail from You Grow Girl is joining us via video link to give a demonstration on How to make Sun Tea.

The Alternative Kitchen Garden Seed Swap in the Permaculture Marquee is offering marigold seeds today. If you’re in the UK and you’d like a packet of dwarf marigold seeds then email with your proposed swap :)

The Solar-Powered Cinema is showing Eat the Suburbs: Gardening for the End of the Oil Age and the Blog Green Gathering grapevine is chatting about the Airplot allotment on the proposed site of a new Heathrow runway. The Big Green Blog Gathering Green Flash Mob is heading over to Airplot and signing up for a piece of action.

The weather forecast for today is largely dry and bright, so you might be able to get your towel dry!

Keep up with more Big Green Blog Gathering goodies on Twitter, by following the #bgbg tag.

The themes for the rest of the week are as follows:

  • Saturday: Waste

  • Sunday: Climate

If you have links and ideas for inclusion then don’t forget to email them to me. I am organizing the Permaculture Area of the Big Green Blog Gathering, but the Big Green Gathering had lots of different areas planned, so feel free to host your own Blog Green Gathering Area and let everyone know what’s going on there!
