I love gardening books. I have shelves and shelves on the things, but in 2009 I have fallen behind on my reading. The books are piling up faster than I’m reading them, and it’s no fun buying more books if you have a huge stack of unread ones – it’s just adding to the clutter.
So one of my ideas for 2010 is to plan to read a book per month. I have pulled 5 unread books off my shelf for starters; I will pick the others once I’ve made it through these:
- Wicked Plants, by Amy Stewart
- The Living Landscape by Patrick Whitefield
- Veg Patch (River Cottage Handbook no. 4) by Mark Diacono, although I’m avidly awaiting his Otter Farm book.
- The Permaculture Garden by Graham Bell, which I should have read ages ago.
- Mycelium Running (How mushrooms can save the world), which I bought to take on holiday this year but didn’t read.
So by my reckoning that takes me through to the end of May. If you’d like to join in and have a bit of a book club thing going then email me. I’ll review each one as I read it, so you know that I’m keeping up (or not!).
